Not sure what this all means. Anyone with knowledge of legal lingo explain?
It's just response filed to the court, it doesn't mean anything.

The question is. Why is this mofo not in jail. If people are put in jail some times for a traffic stop, why this felon not in jail. They need more aggressive prosecutors and judges for his selfish son of a gun

Because the federal defendants are saying “yup, we agree - it’s illegal. Also, there’s no difference between DAPA and DACA - you even said so - so just end it.”

That's how it's always been, no? The Trump administration never actually defended DACA in court in any of the circuits. The AGs stepped in. In Texas, I think the AG from another state (MA if I remember correctly) flew to Texas and defended DACA.

Right - so at this point what does the court say? How do you guys see the court proceedings going?

What possible legal argument can be made gives how all of the legal arguments here have already been made?

I think if something negative comes out of this, it'll kick dems into gear and they'll become serious (if they're not already serious. If they are they're going to speed things up). So far they haven't made a noticeable win on immigration while Trump has (yes it might be tied up in the courts but his base won't care). Another blow to DACA will make dems seem incompetent and boost republicans' saying "dems are only using dreamers for votes"

The tides turn when people start believing republicans, it'll actually hurt dems because people will think "if dems can't get something with 70%+ public support and some republican sympathy passed through congress, how can they do anything?" and start questioning what they're promising in the 2020 election (that's not DACA related). In short, if republicans force dems on dreamers before the election, dems will fight hard, at least harder than they are now.

Dems need an anchor. Something they promised and something they can cling on to as real policy and it's passed as law, especially during election season. That way it's not just all talk. The most likely thing that fits in this political climate is dreamers. In all honesty, I believe that's what happened to the 25 bil for DACA deal. The problem then was the 4 pillars thrown in and dems had no real leverage to negotiate anything. Dems also put too much into it now (Schumer shutdown the government for 3 days and Pelosi gave a long speech in the House) for them to just shrug and do nothing.

Ultimately, I think DACA will renew until SCOTUS decides or something passes in Congress. Dreamers' fate is with Congress, not the Judicial branch. They can delay / speed up Congress' priorities though.

Which would have survived if Obama didn't overreach and try to include DAPA. The public opinion on people coming here illegally and popping U.S. citizen kids is not very favorable --- understandably so.
