When I went to do my taxes I noticed they put permanent resident (green card) on filing status.
They did this last year but I never noticed they put that. It’s H&R block

Under tax law, people who live in the United States (regardless of immigration status) are considered “resident aliens”

You can do this online as well. Why have someone else do it? Did they knew you were DACA EAD?

i find it hilarious, ironic, stupid and flat out ridiculous that for TAX purposes all UNDOCUMENTED people that do their taxes are required to file and are considered as "RESIDENT ALIEN" when filing.

In other words:

Undocumented Person: I can't find a job, can you please help me?
ICE/USCIS: Our records show that you are an undocumented immigrant, you cannot legally work in the US.
Undocumented Person: Okay but I did make $30k +/- from multiple different jobs this year, should I file taxes? I don't have any 1099's or W2's, it was all cash.
ICE/USCIS: ...
IRS: Yes, you should report ALL income.
Undocumented Person: But I am undocumented.
IRS: No problem at all, we'll put you in the system as a Resident Alien, so you can legally file taxes.
Undocumented Person: Oh ok.
IRS: Thank you for your cooperation, based on your single status and income you now owe us $4,239.00
Undocumented Person: Wow ok, if that's the case and I am now considered a Resident Alien can you please allow me to work legally?
IRS: ...
ICE/USCIS: Our records show that you are an undocumented immigrant, you cannot legally work in the US.

Under tax law, money made from dealing in illicit trades, bribery, etc.... is required to be reported to the IRS. The gov't just wants the money, no matter who/how it's made.

No, but seriously, one of the crimes that Al Capone was charged with was tax evasion. Nothing about illegally selling or distributing alcohol during Prohibition (or who knows what else he did). The government (IRS) cares a lot about getting its money. Doesn’t care whether you’re a citizen, resident, or non-resident alien. Better pay your due before April 15

Do you put your immigration status on your tax form? I don't see it on my tax forms....
