Hi y'all,

Some of you know that I'm adjusting my status right now, and that I'm only a couple of months away from finding out if my 601-A waiver is approved or not. My i-130 was filed through my parents and not marriage to a US citizen, so I'm supposed to go to Venezuela for my interview if everything goes well with the waiver. However, US is pulling all personnel from the embassy in Venezuela and I have no idea what's going to happen when the time of my interview comes and there's no US embassy in Venezuela to speak of.

Anyone know what happens in cases like this one? Do I get to have my interview here or another country? Or am I basically screwed?

It could be the normal background check. Good question. Maybe the interview will be in USA?

In case like this you'd be scheduled to attend an interview in another country, not necessarily the country of your birth/citizenship.

Do they get a choice in the country? Or is it made for them?

Lucky you, you don’t have to go to Venezuela. I’m Venezuelan. My cousins were the last to leave and the stories they tell are not for the faint of heart. This is not the time to go to Caracas.

Oh hey there. I've been wondering if there were other Venezuelans here. I am feeling kinda lucky this is happening cause I sure didn't wanna go back, but I hear you. I still have family there and I can't even tell you how many times they've been robbed at gun point and been victims of other crimes. One of my aunts was kidnapped for days and she went through hell, thankfully they let her go after the ransom was paid.

I was really scared of having to go back cause I don't feel like getting raped, kidnapped and/or murdered.

Shouldn’t Venezuelans be allowed to file for TPS or Asylum?

TPS is by designation and I doubt the current administration would designate them. Asylum is a big maybe.
