What sources do you guys use for your 401k configuration? Like where do you put the allocations and all that good stuff.

Depends on the risk you're willing to take. I do high risk so most of my money is stock market and futures ATM. I don't particularly recommend it on mutual funds because funds are 'passively' managed and you won't be able to sell and/or buy back into a fund due to restrictions. Right now due to trumps win, financial sector, energy, defense, industrial, transportation, construction, biotech (still cheap after Clinton's 1 year downward spiral).

For mutual funds I won't be touching too much I look at performance over past 3 yrs to 5 yrs.

I have a gut feeling however there is a recession looming in late 2017 or in 2018. If that does come, I may just open a cap one invest acct. If you can stomach strong volatility, you'll see a payoff 2-3 years after. Just don't cash out immediately, wait as long as you can

I had a similar feeling after FBI reopened the Clinton investigation and divested from the nasdaq and other stock market positions. I still fear Trump will be disastrous to the economy even after the big market jump after his win (which I feel was triggered by a jump in industries Trump would be friendly towards and not over real projected growth). The tech sector is still on shaky ground and this whole cutting deals w/companies and tariff talk is not helping the uncertainty.

Im an investor.

Before you invest - ask yourself -- is this money you afford to lose? If you lose, how long are you willing to wait it out? How much return do you want to get for how much risk?

My question is, can you take your 401K and Vanguard account abroad? I've read online that if you are foreign, some companies will not let you take your 401K abroad and when you withdraw the money, you will be charged tons of penalty and tax fees. For those reasons, I have not invested since I may or may not stay in this country in the long term (obviously not by choice but from deportation). Has anyone been able to open an account which can easily be moved to another country?

Since the election I have stopped the process of buying a house, stopped the contributions to my 401K, stopped all stock investments and also stopped putting money into my high yield saving account. Until I know what the future of DACA is, do you guys think these are the right moves?

I thought so at first but the market's been rallying like a SOB so I had to get in on the action. Only you can gauge how much risk you're willing to take. I'm looking at bitcoin right now because it's shooting up too and makes for quick movement of funds to another country if need be....obviously risky because it's bound to come down at some point.

Maybe redirecting your 401k contribution is wise (unless you have company match), but I wouldn't necessarily stop investing. Ditto on holding off on the house (I bought one 1 yr ago, haven't finished fixing it yet and am stuck with it. Should've paid rent instead had I known DACA would be dead so soon.
