DACA for several years and recently married! Anyone have any luck filling out paperwork themselves without a lawyer? I’m in Texas and I got a quote for 7k which is super steep. Looking for advice or resources on doing this myself. Please and thank you!!

Well it depends. ARE you able to adjust your status? ie. were you just a visa overstay or do you have an EWI that you need to clear? If it's a routine case and you already have DACA and don't have to worry about getting deported if you come forward, you can do it yourself and it's routine.

If you have to clear an EWI then while technically possible that you can do it yourself, much as I can technically give myself a tooth filing, I wouldn't recommend it.

I did it all by myself back in 2015. It was a parent petition under section 245(i). Make sure you are able to adjust status in the U.S

It's lengthy, but very possible if you entered the country legally or did AP, and your spouse is USC. There are many guides online with checklists and advice. I recommend following at least two to make sure you're meeting all requirements, and read the instructions of each form you're submitting (below).

The most important thing is proving a bona fide marriage with proof of financial co-mingling, and meeting the support requirements from i-864 (bank accounts, bills, etc). Some forms ask for the same documents, so make sure you follow those directions in each form package (ie birth certificates, etc).

I started the process on my own in 2016 and finally naturalized last month.

i-130 (USC)
i-130a (you)
i-485 (you)
i-765 (you)
i-131 (you)
i-864 (USC)
i-864a (you; if using your income to help qualify)
i-693 (you; take to interview)

7K is the quote we just got as well... and we are thinking about it too, which route to go.

7K is very expensive. If I were you, just do the paperwork yourself
