What are YOU talking about? If that was the case then no one that came with a valid visa would be able to travel within the US. People who do not have valid visas but with a valid passport would be able to travel within the US. I think you are misinterpreting the purpose of RealID.

It's really weird that we have it because it was always the Republicans who were against a national ID card and this pretty much makes it a national ID card since it would be required for flying and the feds keep tabs on it.
I think the Real ID was a real mess to begin with. It was passed on the pretext of combating terrorism, yet the 911 terrorists came into the country legally with visas.

The group impacted the most were working illegal immigrant.

I think the biggest shortcoming of the Real ID was not having provision for undocumented persons.

This would have ensured that the goverment kept a record and track of everyone.

The inconvenience on illegal immigrants instead causes a situation where people are "under the shadows" and the government doesn't know who these people are. Where people need to drive and aren't able to get properly licensed to drive, and will drive regardless because their day to day life.

Ended up not getting a Texas license back in the day when Perry signed the real id back in the day.

your EAD card is a Federal govt issued card and therefore can be used in place of Real ID.

I am in a state that does not offer Real ID for me, so if I want to fly after may 2025, I will be using my EAD.
