This is incredibly cruel to their American citizen families, inefficient, and does not help keep the public safe at all.

They paid thousands of dollars in poor legal representation, petitions, appeals. There are thousands of MAGA voters voicing disgust at these deportations and it's just a matter of time before a class action lawsuit is filed on behalf of American families impacted.

Not even financial fraud and many other ACTUAL federal crimes can be pursued after more than 10 yrs. They reach a statute of limitations. But every new administration is allowed to play with the lives of hard working immigrants.

Interestingly hypocritical that Trump refused to deport essential workers during Covid and enacted mandates to keep farm and food productions workers, and other frontine business and services open and requiring workers to show up to work. Thousands died from C19 infection.

Expelling people who have been living and working here and obeying laws for 20-30 years is extreme. They should review cases and provide a pathway to citizenship.

Where exactly are these "MAGA voters against deportation"?

Many of our patients, in newspaper comment forums, Twitter. Neighbors.

Including the ones who were misled to believe that this administration was focusing on new arrivals and criminals.

Talk to regular people and you will hear it, too.

They look no different than any well-off white people

Makes you wonder how many of well-off looking people are undocs in disguise?

The real question is have they ever voiced support, marched, protested, donated for DACA?

If not, we shouldn't care.

The point of my reply is that deporting people with decades of life in the country who are not criminals or harming anyone should be reconsidered.

There are many Dreamers in the same situation because DACA did not include them.

Yeah, if you’re paying taxes not causing trouble for all this time how does the county benefit from having you leave. Seems dumb to me.. but it’s not about smart. It’s about some sort of vengeance for some reason. Dumb people being angry because they are dumb and unable to achieve anything in their empty lives. So they blame the immigrants.

I've only seen cheering on the comments online. "I voted for this" is their new catch phrase.

They really used their dislike and racism for the undocumented to get into power. The classic, it's the illegals for why you can't get a house from the vice president. So some actually thought they'd see cheaper housing from a mass deportation.

Just blow up the economy by removing 40 million people. It won't work out as well as they imagine. The undocumented also have trouble buying homes lmao. Not to mention the houses would trickle into the markets and a lot of rentals would be resold at a higher premium because everyoneneeds shelter. Any actual for sale house would just be scooped up by the plentiful landlord corporations.

Higher density and more houses are the solution.

Sadly nobody is safe. It doesn't matter how well you blend in, whether you're in a blue or red state (although blue state is still better). My goal for the next 4 years is to just try to survive and try to not be in the wrong place at the wrong time. There is a chicken roasting food truck that I go to once a week because they are very kind people and I want to support them, but they are parked in front of an apartment complex that is fully of undocumented people in a neighborhood full of poor working people and now when I go there, I have to circle around once just to see if there is anything happening and it's a nerve wrecking 5 minutes. They were telling me that they've been pretty slow too because people are afraid to come out of their apartments. It used to be one of those areas where all the doors were open with kids running around, etc. but it's like a ghost town now.
