DENVER ‒ Some suspects in violent assaults and sex crimes are escaping American justice because they're being deported before they can stand trial, according to a number of prosecutors and legal experts across the country.

In one suburban Denver county, the district attorney has tallied at least six criminal cases he's had to shelve or drop because Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents detained or deported suspects before he could prosecute them.

In another case in the city of Denver, a man suspected of attempted murder was released because ICE had deported the witnesses against him, forcing prosecutors to drop the charges. That suspect then tackled an ICE agent trying to detain him outside the jail.

ICE as a 'getaway driver'

Kagan said some immigration experts have begun referring to ICE as a "getaway driver" because they believe the new system is ripe for abuse by offenders: "The U.S. citizen has to face trial and serious prison time while the noncitizen could just ask ICE to give him a ride to Mexico and get off free."

wow never really considered this situation. Wild stuff.

ICE is right in deporting them.
American justice is too slow and expensive.

Keeping them here = feeding them, wasting tax dollars prosecuting them and keeping them in jail when they're getting deported anyways, etc.

Yes, it sucks not making them pay for their crimes but kicking them out quickly is better for U.S society in general.

I consider this latest development a net positive as long as you can manage to keep these scumbags out forever.

The smart thing would be to deport them into a prison in their origin country and still hold trials and what not so they don't have the opportunity to re-enter at a later date at their convenience.

They still could simply just return via the various tunnels and rope ladder systems. Actually, nowadays they just cut one of the bollards with angle grinders and just walk through and then overwhelm local resources so elsewhere they can move people and items.

Man it would suck bad if one gets falsely accused and deported for it before proven to be guilty. But this is essentially that.

Undocs are walking on thin ICE!

For those of you supporting this, remember that the definition of "Criminal" is very loose and can very well include any of us.

There's been a lot of illegal immigrant MAGAs getting deported quite recently. Didn't know it was possible but we live in a failed society. We don't go to circus, we live in the circus.
