Just wanted to share what I've been saying and the info I've been using so I won't mess up when I call because I hate talking on the phone, lol

Most of it I riffed from the end part of a letter we were using last time around.

The zip codes at the top of each senator's info are from a populated city in their state.

Maybe this might help others. Change, shorten it, whatever, just call!!!

"Hi, I’m calling to urge Senator ________ to please support the Dream Act.
I know a few of these young people in my community and neighborhood, their story is sad, but they’re exemplary, the epitome of what I wish all the youth in America could be. The DREAM Act is more than an immigration issue; it’s pertinent to education, national security, and economic stimulus.

I hope you (he/she) will lend your (his/Her) support to young people across the nation and their life’s dependence on the DREAM Act.

Thank You "

Well I posted a zip code for each "senator on the fence" above their name, but if you want to use a different zip code or find ones for other Senators, just type in their state's zip codes in you search bar, and pick a city and its zip code. That's how I do it

Hutchison will NEVER support DREAM, so don't bother wasting energy calling her office.
We have 48 solid votes for cloture (if you include Gillibrand- NY, Franken- MN, Kaufman- DE, and Bennett- CO).
We then have supporters who didn't vote last time: Boxer- CA, Dodd- CT, Kennedy- MA, and McCain- AZ. If you count them, we have 52.

If you count new democratic senators: Udall- NM, Warner-VA, Begich- AK, Hagan- NC, Merkley- OR, and Shaheen- NH, we get to 58.

So really our strongest efforts should go towards those democrats who actually voted against cloture: Baucus- MT, Conrad- ND, Dorgan- ND, Landrieu- LA, Pryor- AR, Tester- MT, and McCaskill- MO. If we get two of these, we have 60! That's it!! Maybe Specter- PA, is worth a try, but these 7 Democrats are our biggest problem.

Not completely true about Sen. Hutchinson. During the debate last year, she was willing to compromise and voted in favor of it. Also, remember that just because they're newly elected democrats, doesn't mean that they will vote "yes." Sen. Hagan, for example, is not a definite yes at the moment.

This is a great year to pass the DREAM Act, but we need to work our butts off calling as many senators and representatives as we can. Let's not get too confident just yet.

umm... Hutchison's idea of a compromise was giving us F1 visas. Suppose that flies, do you know how long it takes (backlog) from H1-B to greencard- and the H1-B is the only thing you can get after an F1. These people offer "compromises" but their real intent is to gut the bill and render it worthless and ineffective. I'd rather press a freshman democratic senator, than a seasoned republican from Texas. Cornyn did the same thing with CIR. They pretend they'll support a bill if their amendments are considered, and not only is it neverending, they ultimately vote against the guttered bill.
