[quote=MDxOD;151108]why not go to school in UT? (sorry if you answered this i didnt read through all the posts)

If you are in the top 10% and you have high SAT scores, you might be able to get some MERIT scholarships or something. Either way before CC you should try to apply, you never know, might end up getting accepted somewhere its cheaper than a CC.[/QUOTE

Well, UT does not offer Mechatronics and my SAT scores are not very high. BTW I've never heard about MERIT scholarships, are they offered to people in our "situation"?
I thought we could only obtain financial aid from the state?

merit scholarships are just that. scholarships for students that earned them either through good grades or some other criteria. most are given by the school regardless of your legal/illegal status. and yeah and top of the state aid you can also receive.

good luck!

Is the 10% rule still in effect in Texas? If it is, you are pretty much automatically accepted into any public college in Texas with minimal effort (thats how I did it)--- if you can afford it. (UT, A&M, texas tech).

I'd suggest you stay in a good college in texas and fill out the FAFSA (You can still apply for state financial aid). Take advantage of the 10% thing.
