For some people, DREAM is the lesser "evil" between the CIR and DREAM Act. I really don't think we will see CIR pass this administration at all. We may have to use this argument to strengthen our cause but at the same time weaken CIR.

I'm all for it tho, sick and tired of waiting and feeling hopeful then shot down for another yet because of Washington bureaucracy and recesses. DREAM Act needs to pass now.

We might be able to pass CIR via the lame duck session. Or at least the DA.

There are some who say the Republican posturing against CIR is only so they can stay in office. Once the Nov. elections are sorted out, we might find it easier.

Only time will tell though.

I agree with Invictus, we have to understand him because we are allies not enemies. But he has to understand US too. I really don't think Rep. Gutierrez has an argument though, there is no "CIR" bill; DREAM Act bill exists! There is no bi-partisan support for "CIR"; there is bi-partisan support for DREAM! 70% of people don't support "CIR"; meanwhile 70% of people support DREAM. Most of the biggest advocacy groups for Immigration Reform want to move ahead with DREAM by itself FOR THIS YEAR, they have made it public, rather quickly after Sen. Reid said that if Immigration Reform advocates told him "CIR" was dead for the year he would pursue it. In this political climate and in the future "CIR" might never happen. Why? Simple, not all Dems support "CIR" and people on the right keep shifting further to the right and will only keep going. This president's approval is below 50%, knowing that, over 50% of people theoretically will not support most things he endorses and maybe part of the percentage left will not support "CIR" either, THEORETICALLY. What's not theoretical is that we are not dividing the movement! That is a bogus argument, just because we all don't have the same "everyone-jump-off-the-cliff" mindset, does not mean we want to divide the movement and give up on "CIR". If DREAM were to pass, WE WOULD STILL BE IN THE FIGHT FOR "CIR". Most of us have parents that would benefit from "CIR" and even if it took 10, 20 or 30 years we would not leave the fight. In the end the simplest fact leaves him with no argument, the fact? "CIR" does not exist and Congress can't vote on a 'framework'. I like Rep. Gutierrez, I have always liked him, but he seems to be delusional and in denial about "CIR". Biggest point of all is he was elected to do what THE PEOPLE want and need, not what HE wants. He is being capricious and childish. Truth is "CIR" is not and will never be a battle, it is war, politically speaking, and there is more than one battle to it. The DREAM Act is the most important battle of "CIR", due to the fact that we can't fight the "CIR" battle because it doesn't exist yet. This is my opinion and perceived reality, so if you see any holes in my 'logic', let me know.

Well things are going to get feisty if you put two gay queens in one room lol

Anyways, I also agree with Invictus. I'm glad that one girl told him that CIR is dead this year because it is.

I think if we can get the DA passed we could ultimately end up helping our close ones when we achieve citizenship and then everyone would be legalized which there would not be a need for a law. Like we may have different opinions on this but I think who ever came here after 07 should not be able to legalize because they knew what they were getting into. My uncle crossed the border in 06 and he fully knew that even if he married he would have to go back. I think the Dream Act helps us because we actually have lived here since kids and also lived here all our lives. We deserve a chance to prove something.

Or anybody in general who have been living here since before 9/11 because America would not care who came in before what happened. My parents and I came here when I was 6 in 1996 on a six month visa. We went back to Brazil and visited in 98 with a expired visa and immigration did not care they looked at our passports and let us right through because things were "good" here.

I think the students could have been a little more respectful to the rep. I don't know if putting this video out really helps garner support for the cause.

There are all these forces now colliding and pushing immigration reform to the forefront: DREAM, the AZ bill, immigraton detention changes, racism, hate crimes, and to quote Victor Hugo "There is nothing as powerful as an idea whose time has come". It just beffuddles me that it is our 'allies' who are resisting it. If you don't have 60 votes, then GO GET THEM. Just like the president finds money for the wars where there's none to be had. There was no budget for unemployment extensions, and they got from somewhere else. There really is no exuse, and the best way to question it, on the record, is to ask of Gutierrez et al. What is your plan B? If DREAM within CIR goes down, how will you ensure its passage on its own?
