It doesn't make sense to me to reject someone's I-765 application because they're making too much. After all, higher income higher taxes, right? USCIS must know that there are a lot of highly educated DACA recipients, and they're not all going to get minimum wage jobs after they get their EADs.
Agreed, it seems that the OP is worried about income limit for work authorization, but there isn't one. I work under DACA and I expect to make at least $60K next year so you have absolutely nothing to worry about as long as you're filing your taxes on the income.

Whew, good!

I filled mine out with my latest income, which was only $12/hour. My new job is $53k a year, and it starts next week. I mentioned it in my short essay, but I didn't include that in the calculation since I haven't started the job. K, so nobody has to worry about this anymore

Whether you make 30K, 60K, or 1500000K per year, your EAD will be approved. Don't you think the guy making millions has any bills to pay? This has absolutely NOTHING to do with approving your I-765. This is extremely absurd...So like USCIS would think, hey this guy makes an X amount of money, therefore lets not issue him an EAD..the hell is he going to do the next couple of years then? See how absurd this sounds? Once again, I-765WS is just a mere formality...If you qualify under I-821D or any other categories that USCIS has out, then you qualify to get an EAD under I-765 end of story. In fact, I'm willing to bet even if you send in I-765 just with your name and signature, you will be approved without any problems.

Never really. You need to support yourself or your family somehow - so you need to make money, so you have economic necessity.

Deferred Action (C14), DACA (C33), Final order of removal (which is impossible to execute) (C18), and Students in need of employment due to extreme economic hardship (C3III) are the only ones who need to demonstrate the "economic necessity", all other categories are not required to have it. The part being that what is "economic necessity" is purely to interpretation. In this case it's common sense - you need money to live.

I hope you are right. On I-765WS I entered what I'm expecting to make this year, about 60K. I live in NYC, so my expenses are outrageous. I did not type anything on the explanation section. I just entered the amounts.

It doesn't ask expected annual income, it asks for current so what you've made last year.

Also, OP $30k is nothing extravagant, you have nothing to worry about. Even if you were making $1mil+, IMO it's just a formality.

If you meet all guidelines of I-821D, there is nothing stopping you from getting your EAD. The most that person could do is issue RFEs but till date, I have still to hear of an incident where someone who clearly qualified was denied. USCIS is on point when it comes to independent unbiased adjudicator personnel.

Don't worry about $30k.. When I first got my EAD I was making $52k and got approved no problem. I'm now making a bit over $70k and just sent my renewal I'm not even worried about that. Besides, $30k in NY isn't much. You will be fine.
