I don't go to the ghetto areas. I stay near the loop or in Lincoln Park where my GF lives.

Why do you hate it? I've been to NYC, but I'm planning a trip soon. I always imagined NYC as similar to San Francisco, and I would have considered moving there if my job called for it.

I would've happily moved to NYC instead of LA.

Texas has been my home for decades and most memories of my life have been here, but I would get the hell out of here the first real chance I have. So sick of the brutal summer weather, flat landscapes, and snakes both in the grass and in politics.

I am from Florida but I currently live in North Carolina.
I wonder what it’s like to live in a blue state...
I’ll probably move again in a couple years I think. I was thinking Colorado or Oregon???

Honestly, while at first it may sound like paradise, it can quickly get kind of annoying and you'll catch yourself sounding like a conservative sooner than you think. I was just briefly staying in one of the most liberal places in the country and went to the store to get some groceries and got charged for plastic bags which was new to me. Ok, no problem...plastic bags are a big problem...

Walking down the street, there were people camped out in the street and very aggressively asking for money...Ok, I get it...times are tough but holy shit, it's not my fault you're shooting up heroin, clean yourself up and take care of your shit...

Then I'd meet someone and talk and they'd find out I'm from Texas and even though I look nothing like a typical Texan, they'd start talking shit about how backwards the state is and how much more superior they are. Hell, even in Austin, they look down on everybody else from outside of there. Sure a lot Texans do the exact same shit to California but you'd think progressives are a little more open minded that not everybody thinks the same.

So yeah, while I'm sure I'd be happier in a liberal city, I have found that extremists from either side are nuts. For the time being though, I have more in common with very liberal people so I'm willing to put up with them.

I was in San Francisco last weekend, and that's all I needed to convince me I had to go back.

I talked to my manager yesterday about moving to our HQ in the Bay Area. He talked to his boss. The request was granted. They will likely pay for my relocation.

Never be afraid to speak up, fam. Follow what you really want.
