that best, worst, and estimate scenario doesn't look good. the best is only 1 point above what we need.. hopefully this year brings the BEST for us..

mark silverman is an immigration lawyer in California. He works a lot of pro bono stuff for immigrants, he's hispanic I believe. He organizes and is part of much of the immigration support movement here in California. He gave few scenarios of what could happen in the Senate.

Imo,it is waay too early for any predictions even though the elections are over because there are still 3 more Senate seats in play that could make Dream act go either way.The Senate is our problem & these 3 races are crucial to Dream act's passage chances.

Having an Alaska,Georgia & Minnesota Senate vote could make things a lot more simple should the bill return, each one counts.Chambliss could also be unseated since the Obama electoral machine is headed to Georgia to help Jim Martin in the run-off.Jim Martin also supports CIR .

His estimates are weird. I find it hard to believe that Warner and Hagan wouldn't support the dream act. Also why are they crossing out Begich already? He probably doesn't know what the dream act is since immigration isn't a big deal in Alaska. He could be persuaded. Also I think some of the other senators like Baucus may be more willing to vote for it since they aren't up for reelection like last time.

Silverman is not considering Dem or Republican switchers (no to yes). The Obama White House can put pressure on the Democratic caucus and there's a few Republicans that could switch as well.

EDIT: Here's a portion of the article that Silverman linked to:

Quote:
The fourth plank on Johanns' immigration platform is addressed directly to those illegally in the United States: "You need to honor our laws," he said. "You need to return and re-enter in a legal fashion. And do it in a way that honors the laws of the United States."
Sounds like a no vote to me. I want Hagel back . Fortunately, we gained in pro-Dream Senators after this election.

So it turns out that creep Pryor DID vote against it

I was right about those Southern Democrats being true DINOs. Wait, sorry, I meant to say they are Democrats in that they support an active federal government in domestic affairs, so long as anything approaching civil justice is excluded. Why do you think most of them flipped Republican in the 60s?

Whatever, we still have our work cut out for us. Giving up isn't an option.

Also, I forgot how to make an angry emoticon...

I really cannot see us going till 2010 without Dream, personally If dream doesnt get talked about early on i will be upset. I know im not supposed to keep my hopes high in order to avoid disappointment...but hopes are all we have when it comes to this, we can push and push and push, but somethings are just way out of our control.

Here you go buddy.

Anyway,I believe this is just his Silverman's "Prediction" so no worries. His projections however seem to be me more applicable toward CIR,not really Dream act.

You guys can throw away Silberman's predictions because we now have Obama. He's predictions were based on the Dream Act when Bush was in office. I have faith that Obama will very determined in passing the Dream Act.
