I understand their hesitance, but they need to decide if they want to swallow this pill or a defeat at SCOTUS. At this point, their leadership has not offered even a DACA fix that will put the program on better legal footing.

Hopefully, we can see the text of the bill early next week. It as due out on Friday, per Tillis's last update.

It's fucking pathetic that after more than 15 years congress, still finds it hard to give even breadcrumbs to the lowest hanging fruit, least controversial, most American part of the immigration tree.

It is right and just for us to have a speedy pathway to citizenship at this point; and by us, I mean all Dremers, not just the DACA population. For us to be left thinking it is okay not to be able to travel or not to be able to eventually sponsor a spouse for citizenship later on or not be able to vote and continue to pay taxes without representing just shows so much how we have been beaten down over the last 15+ years. And then this constant climate forcing us to believe we DESERVE only breadcrumbs makes the DACA population turn against other Dreamers when we could use that energy to mobilize and scortch Congress for their inaction and very, very low bar... So sad.

We need WAY, WAY better leadership in the Dreamer community. Dreamers that are not UWD. Dreamers that are smart, fight for the Dreamer community, critical, strategic, organized, and outspoken. From what I have seen, our community rolls over to Durbin who has had no fucking results for 20 years. We stay silent to UWD. We do not meet the fucking Republicans who hate us with equal passion and action. We don't organize. We largely stay silent and just watch. If we had better leadership and action, this shit would have been over a long time ago. We have social media, we have the majority of the public behind us, we have our employers supporting us, we have so much, yet default and submit to the current situation.

As much as I want something to happen for us legislatively this December, I just don't see it happening. There isn't enough time, we basically have 2 weeks left in this congress and have yet to see an official text of a bill or an amendment.

Yea, we are at a difficult place. If/When SCOTUS ends DACA that will be a humanitarian crisis. So, it would be better to have a path to citizenship even if that means no sponsorship in the future. Mostly this will mean not being able to sponsor our parents as it's doubtful any DREAMers have children that were born abroad. Though there could be the occasion of a spouse that would need sponsorship.

I do wonder if that provision really gives us the GOP votes we need or does that placate those in the GOP that would never vote for a bill like this in any form.

I am of the mindset, beggars can't be choosers. If this passes, we are going to have to swallow many bitter pills but that is the price of staying in the country. Each of us will have to decide if it is worth it. I believe it is.

So far, no mentions of a plan B, daca extension, codifying a version of daca, or some second option. If this does not pass then the next bill (if any) will be even more restrictive due to the GOP controlling the house.

Reality is, as bad as this looks now, it will get much worse in the future. The House GOP already said no amnesty bills will make it to the floor.

I am curious about that too. But with the CBP statement approving this framework and AFP also endorsing this plan, the Dems would be hard-pressed to decline.

IMO, I'd wait 20 years for citizenship if it means we are out of this hell of two-year renewals.
