Make the DREAMer go back to their 'home' country, must stay out of the USA for atleast 90 days and then return.

i agree! heck even if they make us get a masters, i will still do it!
6 yrs to complete 2 yrs of college is actually pretty long

and no going back to home country! they will make that a trap

I agree, especially with the part about going back to the home country.

I've always thought the 2 year requirement was too easy.

Perhaps the comprise could be:
4 year degree (BS/BA) if majoring in something will that benefit the US at a strategic level.
STEM degrees for example.

Masters or above for everything else.

or

4 Years serving the armed forces.

You guys are idiots. The current requirements are fine.

Although if I could/would add anything, I would add a community service requirement. That requirement would be patrolling the border and reporting Illegal Immigration for at least 100 Hours over 3 years out of your 6 year conditional residency.. Joining the Military would exclude you from doing the community service.

HOW'S THAT FOR "SECURE THE BORDER!??!?!?!??!?!?!"

doubt they would trust us for that job...

but yeah, community service might be something else to add, and preventing chain immigration, and rewriting it in such a manner that a fool would understand that it does not pay for our college.

100 hours community service would amount to at least 120 million community service hours, at the current hourly wage, that is a whole lot of money saved.

Guys go back to page 2 to see why adding years in college is a stupid idea instead of making it 4 years in college keep it at 2 and require mandatory national guard duty for those only pursing a 2 year degree. Minimum national guard contract is 3 years plus its part time. 1 weekend a month, two weeks out of the year. Can be activated incase of natural disaster or by president in times of war. 4 years military makes more sense, in fact its the minimum required active service.. If your a fat slob who doesnt want to study...you have 2 years to run around the block and attatch teddy bears to the end of a broom stick for weights. Prevent sponsering family members. Issue drivers licences that say "not valid for identification." sounds harder and more military oriented but those who pursue a bachelors would be exempt from guard duty. And those who pursue a 2 year degree would be required to do the guard part time for 3 years while in school. Limit time that can be sppent out of country over the 6 years from 365 days (a whole year, what for??) to 256 days or 180 days.

Sounds harsh, but less republicans will claim amnesty. Regardless, it needs to pass now as is, but if not those should be the new reqirements.

I think adding mandatory military service will probably get lots of conservatives on board. I know liberals will scream bloody murder that its not right to recruit illegal immigrants into military for sole purpose of giving citizenship, but if thats the only way to get Republicans on board, I can't really disagree with it. At this point, ANYTHING would be fine as long as it gets some support. Read this article, makes me think if Dream Act doesn't pass with this congress, it won't even make it to the senate/house floor for years to come.

http://www.stratfor.com/weekly/20100...policy_choices

Polls have shown even conservatives agree that illegal immigrants should be given a chance for citizenship if they serve in the military.
