For guys, there is a HUGE dropoff after you turn 25. In my early 20's, with a valid DL, I was quoted $300ish for liability only. Around 23 or 24, $200ish. after 25, about $100

Now days, I pay about $375 for 6 months and that's WITH uninsured motorist protection in case one of those damn illegals without insurance hits me again (heh seriously though, I've been hit by an illegal 3 times now over the years) , roadside assistance, and rental car. Full coverage for my old car was about $550 for 6 months.

If your insurance is high, spend $25 and take a defensive driving class too. After I had an at fault accident, DD brought my insurance rate down to what it was before the accident.

Oh, and I'm with GEICO. They have stood by me through some tough times and I won't go to anybody else.

Depends on your car too....we have a '08 and '10 both bought brand new at the time. Insurance costs are roughly 1200 a year, full coverage with deductible.

Do you own a bike at least? It's amazing how much ground you can cover with a bike and city bus service
