Fair enough, but let me go all Godwin's law on this thing. [Godwin] The fact of the matter, the star of David is a Jewish religious symbol, people that wore a yellow star of David were Jewish. So it shouldn't matter that Jewish people in Germany had to wear a star of David for identification.[/Godwin] Ok, probably not a good analogy but the whole thing doesn't serve any purpose other then identifying our temporary status. Of course Im grateful for what I have, DACA has helped me a lot. Driver Licenses are a state issue, there is no federal legislation that says they should put that phrase in big red letters. Again what purpose does it serve? It's not like its less valid because it has limited terms in it, well except the fact that being an immigrant sometimes might not be the best thing showing off in public. Again this is my opinion in the matter, I have no state power to change anything anyways.

It actually does serve a purpose. Many states put these letters on ID's and DL's to reduce the risk of someone voting illegally. It alerts the person that inspects your ID or DL that you are not a US Citizen and cannot vote.

You said it yourself, just because it has the letters doesn't make it any less valid.

Why they write the Limited Term on there I am not aware of. It could be because they wan't to differentiate the IDs from those who are U.S. Citizens to prevent people from trying to vote with those IDs. They do the same thing to those that come on a VISA and get a Temporary ID. They are here temporarily, so they get a temporary ID. Basically, you are in the same spot, a temporary stay in the U.S.

Because we are not lawful permanent residents or USC , we don't have a status but a 2 year lawful presence allowances of being here with out being deported.

Well Im not sure this is the issue, voting problems can easily be identified with the expiration date. You also have to register to vote before going voting so that is where the immigration status keeps you from voting. I don't think anyone is thinking about voting taking in mind the penalties. Although I can see the politics involving "immigrant's voting" or some other crap like that could be the reason for the labeling.

Some states allow you to have the same amount of time in your driver license as regular USC. I was planning on moving to the west, but Im fine in Texas for the moment. Perhaps next year, I'll change my mind and move before my EAD expires.

Im not sure what Real ID has to do with the limited terms portion, I mean California and other states follow Real ID and they are offering licenses without those letters to people.

Listen man, you really need to deal with it because there is nothing you say or can do that will change it. You want to get rid of that? find your own methods of fixing your status instead of letting the government doing it for you. As others have said, beggars can't be choosers. We are literally begging for them to find a way to fix our status and we are not really in the position of setting demands and telling them what is fair and what is not. Did you seriously compared this to how Nazi Germany would labelled Jews with a star? Aren't you getting a bit too dramatic now?

People here were comparing our situation with how black people were treated but you went one step even further, you're comparing us to the jews of Nazi Germany now?

And you should move to a state that doesn't put limited term on them
