Of course you don't unless you live in the dessert. How can some of us go to our jobs and go to school without a car in such a fkn packed city like LA where having a car is a must.

In my case it is the opposite, I live in the suburbs where there is virtually no public transportation. If I lived in downtown Chicago I would not have a problem, but then work would be so far away, which would require me to drive anyways since the trains do not reach that place.

Ok, for the dim among you:

1) This announcement is informing anyone who is in *removal* proceedings or has been *ordered* removed; that the government is not interested in removing you.

2) After the government verifies your identity and criminal background; as well as the facts of your case; you will be allowed to apply for work authorization so you can have *authorized stay* while legislation to grant you *staus* is worked out in Congress.

3) Anyone *not* in deportation proceedings will not be losing sleep at night that should they be encountered by ICE or the police, they will end up deported if they aren't criminals.

In summary: If you aren't in proceedings; and other than immigration-related violations, you are a good, law-abiding person, and have absolutely no criminal record; you can go freely about your life with not a worry that you will have to be detained; dragged to immigration court and forced to pay thousands of dollars in representation, just to see if maybe, just maybe, they will let you stay.

Go on and finish school and in the meantime bide your time

Yet for some reason some people here think this is a bad news

It ain't bad news but we need the real Dream act. We need the president or fkn congress to tell us that is safe for us to go and apply for a work permit.

Pure luck actually, I work for a medium size company where just by chance the HR people got me in out of pity . They are the only ones who know my situation. Every day I am scared that they will promote me because then I will have to go out to Caterpillar and EMD. I doubt they will take my passport as identification to tour their facilities. I just wish I could get a Driver's License . My boss is the most conservative of guys, If only he knew that one of his freshman engineers is Illegal.

Just don't do anything stupid (drugs, gangs, driving without license etc...) and stay in school and you will be safe.
I respectfully disagree with you here. I am certain that you will not be deported for driving without a license.
