The CD burner option should work just fine. Although an external hard drive sure does make things alot easier.

Anyway, good luck, and call tech support just for the hell of it. It's a good way of learning the same script that those Indian guys read to you verbatim off their computers.

Anyway, don't give up, and don't go for the easy way out.

When you do get things sorted out, also download and install Ad-Aware 2007 (free) along with Spybot Search and Destroy (free) and Zone Alarm Firewall (free). They all run perfectly well together. Plus, Ad-Aware may catch something a Spybot scan may miss and vice versa.

In my opinion, those three secure the PC in a beautiful, free way. I had Norton Antivirus but later realized that it hadn't and probably never would get the chance to deal with any virus since one would never make it past my firewall.

One perk about calling tech support is when the tech support guy can't figure out the problem and simply suggests that your hard drive needs replacement or some b.s. like that. If you're under warranty you can replace the whole hard drive for free and they may send you a better one. Dell did it for me a few years back! They also replaced my surround sound system with a better one....for free.

Like I said before, norton sucks, reason: tries to do to much and most of the time conflicts with other installed programs, reason 2: failed to catch a couple trojans I caught with nod.
