I was able to speak to my manager and senior manager. I wanted to get my story out there and not be afraid to speak to my employers about this. Given that Deloitte is such a big firm I figured a solution would be to be transferred to a member-firm outside of the US. I don't know how sponsorship for a GC would work because I just joined the firm less than 2 months ago. This Trump win has completed freaked me out about what's yet to come and I was happy I was able to speak to people about it. Both of them were super supporting and even encouraged me to tell as many people as possible about my situation because you never know how and who will end up helping in the end.

I also spoke to the law-firm that works directly with Deloitte and HR. I got vague-ish responses because there's not much that can be done with my situation at the moment.

Were you able to speak to anyone from HR about your situation?
That's awesome how supportive they were! I've been talking to my HR and partner throughout my Advance Parole process, but that was before Trump and the assumption that I will be employable and be able to leave the country for another year. They kept pushing our mediating lawyer to start a visa or a green card process for me, although my lawyer said my status doesn't qualify lol..

I'm having another meeting with them today and I will see what they say. From my previous chats, they seemed very helpful although confused about my situation.

[quote=WithDacaHereToStay;589329]Hello!

If you work at Deloitte and you're a DACA recipient and would like to connect, please let me know! I am too and would like to find someone in a similar position and plan ahead.

Thanks

Summer Associate starting Summer 2017 for Technology Group at the Chicago office.

Interested to know how things are with you with Deloitte now and if they have worked out a solution for you as aDACA recipient. Is Employment-based GC sponsorship a possibility. Have consulted with a lawyer and was advised that we would need an I-601a waiver and do consular processing. This would require that one has a US citizen or LPR parent or spouse who would suffer extreme hardship. A lot to explain on this thread...but it is a possibility if Deloitte is willing to petition.

Damn, I didn't see this response.

I'm AOS-ing through USC spouse right now, so I'm lucky that I don't have to be as concerned right now. I've also left EY to work in private industry, which was a needed change for my career and overall happiness.

But even w/o the AOS, I resolved not to let myself be derailed by Trump. I'd started looking for ways to immigrate to Singapore, Australia, and Canada should the situation become really dire. I was prepared to leave and restart somewhere else if need be. I figured I could either find a new job on my own or transfer to a local EY office.

How are you planning to enter Singapore? Do you know if our status will hurt us when applying? I am also ready to start again, since I'm in a worst situation, I have no path to adjust and I have an EWI. I think Canada looks like the most doable option.

I mean, to be honest, I didn't pursue that research very far because I got married. However, I started looking at international recruiting agencies and looked online for jobs in Singapore. I also looked at immigration rules for the country and read up on expat blogs to find out about the transition.

There's a treasure trove of information online on how to move to different countries. You just have to sift through it and figure out which path is the best for you. It's not a process that you should take lightly, so do your best due diligence.

Great, thanks. My biggest concern is explaining my immigration status in the U.S. and even international lawyers are not very aware of what DACA is and cannot provide good advise.

Explaining it to whom? To employers in other countries who might sponsor you?

I think as far as they're concerned, you're a citizen of your birth country, and they will follow the rules that apply between that country and theirs. Does that make sense? I don't think you being an undocumented would hurt your chances.

That's true. Some countries such as the UK make it impossible to move there if you've ever lived illegally in another country.
