It probably is illegal, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happens, I'm just hoping it doesn't.
Nice lol. Unlikely, I'll use it but be pretty sweet if it did happen. I think you will be fine. You still have some time. Just have the advocacy legal groups flag your case and have congressional inquiry. That why they are always reminded about your case being pending.

No, most people here have been delayed. Esp cases received between 2/14-5/16. Have your case flagged by the legal advocacy group. I would also try to reach out to your congressman and senator to try to inquiry about your case.

I have been calling almost everyday but I've also heard of people getting approved and they submitted their app after me. Is there any reason why this could be happening

I don't know about the order but you are not the only one. It gets frustrating im sure but you have to keep pushing that's all I know, try elevating your case through NILC and contact your state representative.

Also I work for my university and I read online that I'm not required to let my employer know that my permit is expiring soon since I filled out the I9 form when I got hired but I'm not sure about that because I wouldn't want it to affect me later on weather it is immigration or school wise. Any advice ?

Not sure about that either, some people continue working after their EAD expired...could be under managers discretion if they choose to. My previous employer told me my EAD was going to expire and that he needed a new one. That was 2014, no issues then. This year is a different story unfortunately

Unfortunately, this renewal cycle has been all over the place as they had technical issues to start off with and been trying to catch up ever since. They are definitely not approving in order received or expiration.

Here's the steps I took and not really sure which one helped (if any):

Call and request a transfer to Tier 2 officer for status updates. And sometimes they open a Service Request on your behalf. Alternating on 821D / 765 receipts, you can get a few SRs. Most say wait, some burn with cheap shots, and some are helpful. Sometimes if you keep asking, they may dig in and explain the cause of your delay.
OR InfoPass appointment: Essentially you get in touch with a Tier 2 officer.
Email using Contact Us in ELIS or help page from USCIS. They seem to assign a ticket, and it goes to the officer.
Reach out to NILC using reply@nilc.org, IRLC to escalate/elevate your case. Get in their radar, explain your circumstances and they typically escalate if it's in within 10 days of your expiration.
Contact Ombudsman- Attach any letters/emails your employer sent you regarding expiration and impact on job or showing financial hardship
Reach out to your congressman/senator's office and speak to their case helpers. Typically, they ask you to sign a privacy waiver and reach out to their liasons to find about your case.
Email ncscfollowup.nsc@dhs.gov

I know it's easier said than done, it is super frustrating but be persistent- you only need one good officer or liaison to push things through or at least make sure your file is not stuck at some random place!

Good luck, and hope you get approved soon.

I just got off the phone and was told that they are processing May 7th requests. I'm not sure how much I believe at this point, so I will take this with a grain of salt.
I'm due to expire this Sunday, so I'm out of luck to get this on time. I have already been contacted by HR to provide the new card.

My case still says Biometrics Scheduled. I have already completed them(did a walk in early)

We'll see what happens next week. I hope that I can go under the radar until they mail me a card, but being a bigger Corporation they're a bit more unforgiving.

What's frustrating is the amount of money that we pay for this, and the terrible service we receive in return. We're not asking for any of this for free.... anyway, that's another rant.

Applied: May 19th
Biometrics: May 27th
Case Status: Has not changed since biometrics were scheduled
