The delayed process has been happening since the first renewal. They never try to resolve the issue. I was wondering if we could bring up the issue to the secretary of DHS or any Dream Act advocates like Senator Dick Durbin or Rep.Luis Gutierrez.
Hopefully that makes them hurry up.

Also, form i-821 expired on 6/30/16 but I do not see a newer one on the website. Are we supposed to use that one?

Seeing as the article is from last year and we are still dealing with it. :-/

The girl in the story had a happy ending where she got her work permit 3 weeks after it expired. The issue seems to be much more severe this year.

I wish we had numbers to look at of how many pending DACA renewals there actually are and how many are almost expired or close to expiration. According to that article from last year about 5% weren't approved in time. While it is terrible if you are in that 5%, I'm not sure if that's enough DACA recipients effected to make any real changes (such as an extension on the EAD). There's a lot of conflicting information out there.

I know it's to no avail, but I called the USCIS hotline again. It really seems like the reps are lost just as much as us. When I talked to a rep on Monday, Nebraska was supposedly working on cases they accepted on February 28th. Today, however, I was told that they're working cases from January 30th. Also, I was told that there's nothing that can be done in the meantime to keep my job except for hope and pray that the process is done quickly, but they're backlogged and it's very unlikely.

And according to online processing times it is Feb. 4th applications. Honestly I don't think the reps know much, and some of them are making things up.

I was thinking about this as well. There's a bit of a selection bias here because it could be that members who are posting are those whose renewals are being delayed. There could very well be many members that are being processed normally but simply do not feel the need to check the forum.

I do think though that there are probably more than 5% of applicants that are not being approved in time. The number may still be statistically insignificant, but I think we are starting to see a troubling trend here.

I would like one member that applied within the recommended time to come forward and tells us his/her app has been accepted.

This may sound crazy (and likely is) but has anyone thought of contacting a news station? I know that usually gets results on issues like this. If there's so many of us on this forum it can't be that uncommon. Maybe they could get some answers. Just a thought.

How long after you receive the text/email Receipt Notice does the check/money order get cashed?

I was thinking along those lines, though I thought it might be a good idea to contact an immigration groups such as NILC to help advocate for us. There's no reason these renewals should be backed up. There's barely any paperwork involved.
