Hello all,

I just had my DACA approved today so I'm pretty excited. Can't wait to get that work permit in the mail. I do have a few questions however.
First, I accepted a job with a big auditing firm which will require a lot of traveling, some of it to foreign countries. How easy is it to request advance parole? I know they say they will grant you AP if you need to travel for work related reasons, but I wouldn't be able to wait 3-4 months before knowing if my AP got approved.
Second, I believe this has been explained before but if my passport is expired, should I even bother applying for a SS # before I get I get my renewed passport back from the consulate? Will they give me a number or anything at all?
Also, do you get a DACA card? or just the letter itself?

Thanks a lot everyone!

Advanced Parole is a huge risk. They might not let you back into the country. It is not recommended. Also, when I applied for an SSN # all they wanted was my EAD and Birth Certificate.

1. read this http://dreamact.info/forum/showthread.php?t=33174

2. They do not accept expired IDs & passports. You can use your birth certificate though (no need to wait for passport renewal). Just take your EAD & birth certificate and you should be good to go. print this flyer for a complete list of accepted documents http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/deferred_action.pdf

3. No DACA card, just official letter stating they granted you DACA.

Thanks a ton! I wonder if the birth certificates have to be translated to English?

1. Asking for Advanced Parole is not recommended , do a search for the thread
2. The SSA office will not take expired documents as proof of ID, i read some people took their original birth certificate so you may wanna try that
3. Some SSA offices do provide a printout of your number a few days after you apply, most don't they tell you to wait for card in the mail.
4. You only get the DACA letter, no card for that. EAD is a card
Good luck!

about ap, seek an attorney. however, it is very risky indeed. will your job be at stake if you cannot travel? if so, start looking for another job
