Question. My daca protection expired early this month. Since I am AOS trought my wife, I decided not to renew it. My question is, does a pending AOS application gives me temporary protection agains deportation? If not, can I renew my DACA without the EAD ( I already have one through the AOS application)?

You are good. If pulled over by immigration enforcement your chances are better with a C9 actually.

That is insane...

And I thought waiting since July was long. I estimate I have at least manyore months to go.

Finally had the GC interview today at the SF office. Whole process took about 10 months since application was submitted in March of 2017.

Interview went okay and the questions were definitely rapid fire type questions:

"Where'd you meet?"
"How'd you meet?"
"Have you met the parents, and have the parents met each other?"

It was definitely nerve-racking in the beginning when she was asking about my passport and why the surname didn't match my last name on my current DACA EAD. Once we cleared that tiny issue out with her, she was able to be more opened and friendly to whatever else we answered and provided. It seemed like the interviewing officer was checking to see how my wife and I handled some of the the questions she asked our way. Quick answers would have seemed too "rehearsed", so we definitely had mini-conversations while we came up with the correct answers. All in all, it felt like the officer was more friendly towards the end of the interview once my wife took the lead on a few answers.

As for evidence, we provided our wedding pictures, current bank statements, utility bills, and honeymoon tickets at the interview which led to her approving my 485 on the spot. USCIS case tracking hasn't shown my 2-year GC as approved yet, so I wasn't sure how long before the system updates. Has anyone else faced this beforee if/when they were approved on the spot?

Well, I guess my mistake was to send both I-130 and I-485 separately. It makes me think that they don't move forward with I-485 until I-130 gets approved. However, I'm ok as im in the renewal process of EAD.

Did you have the I-130 approved prior to the interview?

Question guys! for I-485 Part 8:

#16: its asking if you worked here illegally. I put YES because I worked for about 5 years and then I got DACA

#17: its asking if I ever violated terms of condition of nonimmigrant status: I answered YES because of visa OVERSTAY

#23: this one confuses me its asking if I ever applied for any kind of relief or protection from removal, exclusion, or deportation. I was never in any kind of deportation per se... {does this include DACA??} I'm confused??

Thanks!
