There’s no question that immigration is one of the most important issues that this country must address. I firmly believe that our current immigration system is broken and that Congress needs to overhaul it.

Protecting the Borders

To protect America’s borders, I have voted to increase funding for the border fence and I also voted against building a cross-border US-Mexico freeway system . This freeway system would further open up the border between the United States and Mexico when we have been working for years to better control traffic over the border. I also voted to protect our borders and citizens by increasing funding for the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program. This program provides funding to help states and localities pay to incarcerate undocumented criminal aliens who have at least one felony or two misdemeanor convictions for violations of state or local law.

Protecting American Jobs

I am committed to protecting the high standard of living that American workers enjoy. I will no favor any plan that jeopardizes the jobs of workers in Ohio’s Sixth District.

No Amnesty

I do not believe that we ought to reward people who crossed into this country illegally.

Ensuring Government Benefits go to Americans in Need

It is important to ensure that Americans in need get the aid they deserve, so I voted to require all owners or renters of housing built with affordable housing funds to provide proof of legal residency. This will prevent illegal immigrants from owning or renting housing that was meant to provide more affordable housing for American families who cannot afford other housing.
