I plan on staying in Mexico for a while. A lawyer has already told me I have a strong case for a work visa in the US, but I decided to stay put for now.

Mexicans with a degree, after Canadians, have the easiest time getting a work visa to the USA. Any degree will do as long as you can get a job offer.

Not possible. They always make a copy of your ID and proof of address. Although, if you have an account at Citibank they might be able to help you open an account at Citibanamex.

Your CURP comes on your voter ID and have not been asked for it separately even when I used my passport which does not come with my CURP. So yes, you can open a bank account without it.
