This is a misconception and is incorrect. Credit inquiries affect your credit score for one year, and are on your credit profile for two years before they aren't reported to lenders at all. For real...

From past experience, an I797 with an actual interview date for permanent residency would be accepted, and would give you an ID with an expiration date for that interview date. Other I797's are not...
