I have a prepaid bank of America credit card and it's a $300 limit. I went in to talk to a representative and he guided me through. I think u should do the same. It wasn't hard at all. But now that American express is sending me the preapproved card I'm not sure if I can use my ITIN number. I'm going to put it down and I'll see what happens...

I never understood why people liked to use the American Express cards, i think its kind of stupid to pay a fee (especially since most fees are 100+), i started with an HSBC 600 dollar credit card with a 45 dollar yearly fee and 15% interest and that was good to start off. Now i have two credit cards, a credit union C.C. with a 1000 max limit and a BOFA student C.C. with a 2000 max limit and they are way better. Theirs no yearly fee and if i don't want to pay interest i just pay it in full at the end of every month cycle. American Express is a bad idea unless you actually use the rewards, like the flier mileage etc.

and you know what else, american express also charges merchants the highest rates of any card, so on top of charging yearly fees and a relatively high interest rate the make a serious percentage from retailers based on the amount that someone buys, their reasoning, american express users tend to be richer on average then the users of other credit cards so businesses benefit because those customers might spend more. Read this in a news article yesterday and its all just a bunch of BS, they make boatloads of money.

Exactly! I got lucky that I never got screwed over, the two cards that I have have low interest compared to other major cc their at 10% and 14% plus I get credit protection etc. My mom had an 805 credit score and was getting charged 25% on a cc so I told her to get the one that I have and she got 8% interest and 10000 credit limit. You have to be smart with ccs not just desperate.

What state do you live in? because if you want to get the credit union bank that i have you have to have at least an Itin and live in California like south cali. The other one that i have is a BOFA cc and its a cal state something credit card and its only a California CC.

No they can apply for BofA credit cards as long as they have an ITIN number and a passport, they can also do that for Chase. I got my BofA CC in Miami and my Chase CC in Chicago, there was no problem, you just have to apply in person that is all.
