Got Denied at SSA after getting EAD card :( - Page 7

I took my EAD, expired passport, and original birth certificate and I applied for my social no problem. So yes, you can take an expired passport.

Actually, the lady that helped me didn't even ask to see my birth certificate. I offered it to her. Haha!

nice, what office did you go to? And were you able to get print out?

I went to my local office in Lancaster, California. Yes, I was. I went to apply for my SSN on 10/16, and went to get my print out 10/18 no problem

I waited 8 days, from the day my EAD was approved (10/0, and went to SSA on 10/16 to apply. They didn't even say I had to wait or rejected me. Don't even mention that you heard from somewhere you had to wait. Just go and say you're applying for your original SSN. Hopefully they don't give you too much trouble! Good luck !

I hope as well. They have food feedbacks in Anaheim so Ill probably go there. I hope expired passport wpuldnt be an issue there cuz I had trouble with biometrics lol

As she says this I'm thinking to myself, "fuck... The DMV is probably going to give me shit about this"

All in all, I'll try my luck at The DMV with my EAD and this denial letter on Monday, and see if I can get through... the worst case scenario is that I'll have to renew my passport, which will take forev

The lady just asked me for my status, and i gave her my EAD card, and then she asked for another ID...I gave my consular ID. I filled my application, i was walking out the door with my approval letter

Just go to another SSA office.

I applied for it on 10/15 and received it today (10/22). However, since my mail is being forwarded to my college PO box, that could have affected the arrival time

FINAL UPDATE

I GOT THROUGH AT THE SSA IN NORCROSS, GA!!!

This is how it went down:

As I walked in I went straight to the ticket machine, and hit #2 (Application for SSN)
then took a seat and patiently waited for my number to be called. Within 5 minutes my number was called and luckily I got a Hispanic guy that was pretty cool. When I sat down he said, "How can I help you today sir"
to which I responded, "I'm here to apply for social security". He then asked "Have You Applied For Social Security Before?", I said, "No Sir". So he then said,"Not a problem sir, I'll just need to see your passport and driver's license"

As he asks me for my license (which I don't have) and my passport (which is super expired, but in my back pocket), I calmly gave him none of the things he asked for; instead, I gave him:
  • School ID
  • Birth Certificate
  • EAD Card

He took what I gave him, looked at my EAD then said "Nice, you got approved for deferred Action? Good job",
As he says this I started thanking god that this guy knows about DACA, unlike my last visit. We then had a little chit chat about school and some other stuff. After our chit chat he started asking official questions like:
  • Have you or any family member ever applied for food stamps?
  • Do you swear by perjury that all of the information you have given me is correct?

To which I responded, "No" then " Yes"

He did some stuff on the computer and then said; "You card should be in the mail within a week or two"


I'm still in utter disbelief as to how smoothly everything went.
