First of all I don't think the BOG is part of the CA DREAM Act. The Bog is institutional aid meaning it is given by the school. When you go to the school ask if you can apply for the bog waiver since it institutional aid was approved under AB-130. The bog waives your tuition fees but not other fees.

AB-131 the CA DREAM Act authorizes the Cal Grant. It is actually not effective until January 2013, so you won't find out about until probably December. So, if you enroll early you have to pay your fees and then get a reimbursement if you are receiving aid. Remember you will be receiving aid after everybody else.

I am a cc alumni with a bachelors and an M.A. in progress. My little bro is currently in our local cc and is a citizen so I am familiar with what the paper says. He is currently receiving the BOG.

I was informed by the financial aid that they would be dispersing the awards this week.

This is what is says on my profile at school:

What school do you attend? I am at SJSU and have yet to receive any aid or info. I emailed the financial aid office a few days ago. I hope I get a response soon!

this should answer all the questions, most community colleges are offering BOG for next semester but cal grants will have to wait one semester.

Do u guys think if I apply for low income housing it will look bad when I Renew my DACA in two years? I want to star the nursing program and that will take me at least 3-4 years to graduate! I need all the help I can get!
I'm also trying to get into nursing programs right now Since you are at a community college, go to your financial aid office and ask for a form for a BOG (Board of Governors) fee waiver. My school had a special one that did not ask for a ssn and if you mention you fall under the Dream Act, they'll understand. You will be asked questions about your income so bring your 2011 Income Tax return. They'll ask you about how many dependents (children) and how many people are in your household. If you make less than a certain amount per household, you will have your fees waived and you will only have to pay for the "health fee" and any additional fees. We can also apply for grants (CA Dream Act) and you can find that application online. You would apply to this if you did not qualify for the fee waiver and made too much. I hope this helps you!
