I deserve the green card because I want to give back to the country, by getting a better job and I learned their language and respect their customs. I find it wrong that people who never bothered to learn English (and I have seem many whom gave me a dirty look just because I didn't speak their language) should get green card when there are MANY free school that teach ESL. 2 miles from my house there are two; 5 miles from my house there are about 5 and yes, I worked and managed to go to school.

Atsila, the amnesty will take a long time, that's for sure, but Obama seems to be ready to do whatever the hell he wants and the Republicans realized they have to be nice to Hispanics, who are the majority of the illegal immigrants in this country too, so that's why they want to pass the bill.
I get it...

1. You are not Hispanic
2. You are a Republican
3. You feel everyone should suffer/work as much as you
4. We are not worthy

5. Why would you ask if everyone from his country is rude?

Seriously, either you're a troll or you just think you've done more to deserve an opportunity of living here.

Re-read your second paragraph and tell me if you can spot a run-on sentence. lol

You're not all that. By your standards I deserve a GC a little bit more than you do.

Erm, I tend to agree with the OP. Stop calling everyone you disagree with a troll. All it does is to show how intolerant you are of outside views.

And these are things you are proud of, if true? Becoming a public charge affects all of us -- hence the phrase *public* charge.

But true to be told, OP does come off sounding VERY arrogant. And need to come off your high horses thinking that just because you came here with a legal status that you are better than most of us.

I feel disdain for youngsters who does not bother to learn English, but I am very comfortable with the elderly who didn't. Main reason was my own experience. Parent came to US at the age of 30, with no less than 10k debt, with no legal status and education, they work less than min-wage job for well over 12 hours a day. Thus, is been 16 years and their English is only limited to few words/sentences.
Same here. My grandparents both immigrated here from Germany with almost nothing. They worked their way up from working in factories and managing restaurants. Today, they are wealthy people in their late 80s still living independently at home. They never once applied for government programs.

Being born into poverty does not somehow condone illicit use of public benefits. It's there for people who need it and perhaps more importantly, people who deserve it.

I applaud your family for doing their best instead of seeking a handout.
I really don't know WHERE you people read that I think I'm better because I came legally; I think many of you were discriminated by other immigrants who came legally and now you see discrimination everywhere.

That's not the case ad I am really tired of trying to defend myself about that. It's like some of the people reading the thread reads only what others posted instead of what I posted.

I don't agree with welfare; I think only people who are physically/mentally disabled should get it. But that would be in a perfect world where everyone has jobs and that's not the reality.
If you had bothered to read the whole thread instead of chiming in whenever it pleases you, you would have read that I believe that if some immigrants who get the green card decide to apply for amnesty, this country will have an increased amount of people on welfare and many more Americans will hate immigrants.

Getting this amnesty is only the beginning. Obama WON'T be the president forever, nor will the Democratic Party be on the power forever. Once the Republicans give us what we want...they will show us their true colors. Immigrants need to smarten up, contribute to the country and show them that we are not a bunch of lazy people seeking handouts.
