I am a registered nurse and I'm planning to get a specialty as a certified dialysis nurse. I am also planning to get the 401(k) plan to pay for my expenses during training and examination.

24 from TX.

Got my undergraduate in Education. Now I'm in my Master's (Woo! Deaf Education!). I was very fortunate that the directors in my program were so amazing. They managed to get me the full scholarship (everyone else was on a government grant) from the programs own money. I am so glad that I spoke up.

Hopefully this time next year I will be getting my first legit "grown up" job, in the career that I love.

Good luck, y'all!

-K

I am 26, and it has definitely always been a struggle! I graduated H.S and did 3 years of college until I had to be realistic and quit because I would not be able to graduate because of my status... let alone land a job. My state also didn't give tuition equity so even with scholarships it was near impossible to pay the out of state tuition. After that, I went from job to job always having to quit because they started doing E-Verify. So unless I get accepted, it will be more overworked, over qualified, and under paid minimum wage jobs for me. That is until I get fed up and decide to explore the country that I was born in and know nothing about. If I get approved though, the world is my oyster since the possibilities will be endless with a lot of hard work and return to school. I mean, just the fact that I will have a license again will make my day a whole lot brighter. It will no longer be a suspenseful mission every time I go out, wondering when it will be the day that I am pulled over and have the car towed.

I'm 26, live in Georgia and I have been approved since December.

I was fortunate enough to attend a university for three years, but was unable to finish my Biology/Pre-Med coursework because of financial hardship. Georgia has since barred undocumented students from its top universities, including the one I attended. I am going to try applying to Spelman and cross my fingers that things will work out in terms of a scholarship once we see what is happening with CIR. When it passes this year, I think I will be moving from Georgia anyway. I grew up here, but I don't want to contribute to a place that actively sought to make the lives of thousands of undocumented families harder.

I'll be moving back to New York, which is where my family lived when we originally came to America. And I plan to attend medical school there or in Chicago. If things don't work out with my undergrad degree in Georgia, I can move to NY, defer for an additional year and apply to Fordham, CCNY, Hunter or Queens College.

At last, I realize I'm not alone in the universe ...

I'm 28, from Texas (hence the username), and about one semester to finish an associates or transfer plan. From here, hope I can go to a real university and get a degree in Business Administration or Management. That is, if I get approved.
