You can call them and they will send you another temporary license. But it's better to go in person because yours is almost expire.

This happend to me earlier this year, went longer than 2-3 months without the mailed license. When I called to inquire DMV would say that that it has to be verifed by DHS and could take as long as 6 months but you can keep getting temporary licenses until then. The normal office couldn't do anything.

I did some digging, and found that DMV uses S.A.V.E to verify EAD which should be done at the office, but sometimes it doesn't go through. This is the website where you can check whats been submitted with your USCIS A number. For me it showed that the DMV verification had gone through the same day. https://www.uscis.gov/save/casecheck

Then I found and called the Cali DMV Legal presence Unit. 916-657-7445. Was on hold for over an hour, fyi. Finally i got someone and they said that it normally it takes a while to verify, checked it and behold they had the verification. Got my license two weeks later.

Hey everyone, finally received the new license in the mail today. Now the only thing of note is that it expires next year on my birthday 01/09/18. My EAD renewed 03/03/17 and the previous licenses usually paralleled the 2 year employment permit. Not sure why this new license expires in less than a year. (EAD expires 03/03/19)

Anybody every seen or heard of this? Probably need to go in to the DMV after all.

Thanks everyone.

Good To hear you finally got it. Did you pay for a new one this last time you went in? In Cali you need to pay for a renewal every 5 years.

Might as well go for the 5 year license with federal limit.

I did not pay for renewal this time, nor did I pay last time. The renewal notice only asked to mail in copy of EAD, Work permit and SS#.

When I first received DACA approval and first DL (03/2013), it lasted until 03/2015, then when I renewed in 2015 that one lasted till 03/2017. This new one that just came in expires 01/18 instead of running 'till 03/19. Wondering if it's an error on the DMV's part or something changed.

I renewed early January, license expired 03/03/17. I called the DMV last week and asked them the status they said it can take up to 60 days. I had an appointment for the DMV tomorrow morning and I was going to ask for a temporary license but luckily the new license arrived today.

Yea, you have to pay every five years. For anyone whose able to get an unrestricted license it normally expires on their birthday on the 5th year. So 03/2013 + 5 years is 2018 on your birthday. They didn't ask you to pay since you are still a year away, so you can wait and pay later if you want. This happened to my brother, and he just went in, paid, and got an updated one in the mail.
