A short while later, the DMV issued a statement saying that anyone with an EAD through DACA would receive a 2 year license. Some of us who have the original 5 year license have been able to sucessfully renew and receive another 5 year license. I originally received a 5 year license and lost my wallet last year with my license in it, I went to the DMV to get a replacement and since it was a couple months out before it would have expired I instead applied for a renewal and got another 5 year license. If you don't have a prior 5 year license, you can expect to get a 2 year only, it SHOULD NOT have the 'federal limits' since that is only issued to people who don't show any legal documentation, aka, illegal immigrants.

Weird, my girl has had 2 year licenses. But recently when she renewed maybe 5months ago or so, she received a 5 year license. Doesn't add up.

no federal limits, its a hit or miss really.. my next renewal in 2022, i might not get a 5 yr DL.

thats why im not gonna apply for the REAL ID after finding out that they will give u a new license based on your EAD exp.

It goes back to clerk judgement. Some of them don't have much idea what in the world they are doing imo.

Employee mistake. She should have gotten a 2 year license. I'm guessing her EAD wasn't checked and they clicked the 5 year term instead of 2

Or the DMV system is just glitched. Being in the IT field that is something I wouldn't be surprised about.

I got a 5 year initially, then randomly got a 2 year in the mail then when I renewed I got a 5.

All over the place

I got my 5 year Driver License by showing my CA ID.

Got my initial CA ID by showing my work permit. It was for five years.

Neither had federal limits apply like AB 60.

Show no fear and speak like a boss and the clerks will give you five years DL/ID.

After real id enacted, they give more years to none real id drivers license. I got 2 years, then last renewal i got 10 years. This is NYS. Temp stamp is still when daca expires.

My initial CA ID was for 2 years. My initial CA DL was 5 years. Kind of random.
