The USCIS decides what's STEM or not.

The rule of thumb is that STEM is a hard subject that has few American students. In other word, finance/accounting related degrees aren't likely to count because there are so many American students with Wall Street ambitions in the field, thus no need for foreign students to fill the body count.

Psychology, the easiest and the most popular major in US, along with the reputation of being the lowest in job demand and lowest in salary made it to the list and Accounting/Finance did not?

Most of degrees in the list consist of fields that's hard to get a job even as a US citizen. Ask any international student if they can secure a job after majoring in "Meteorology." Also, why would any international student major in "Undersea Warfare" when you need to be a US citizen just to be able to apply for a governmental job?

Does it matter where we get our Masters? I was thinking about doing a Mathematics or Statistics at CSU schools.

well psychology is a science. it's not about how easy or hard the subject is. a lot of people that start in psychology end up getting into neuroscience.

actually, psychology is not science. it's pseudo-science. but that's not even the point. the point is that there are many USC college graduates who can't find a job with psychology degree and to consider psychology as a STEM degree before Accounting/Finance is non-sensical.

psychology is not pseudo science. It's a young science so one may be skeptical of its methods. But really Economics is a science....accounting, well...

Psychology is much closer to an actual science than accounting is.

Like I said, people in psychology go on to become psychiatrists (which are doctors) and neuroscientists. Accounting/finance people become bankers.

Whether psychology is science or pseudo-science isn't even important. What I'm trying to get at, is that the majority of USC with psychology degree can't get a job so why do they want foreigners added into the field. Also, STEM doesn't only stand for science, it also stands for math, in which Accounting/Finance falls under. And no, economics is not science..

Like I said above, I never said Accounting/Finance is more science than Psychology. Clearly, Accounting falls under Math in STEM.

Also, you can't become a psychiatrist by merely majoring in Psychology. You have to pre-med your undergrad and then go to a Medical School + Residency before becoming a psychiatrist but that's not even my point.
