You should search for credit there have good very good threads about it but the basica idea is to apply within your own bank under a secure account and have someone join or a family cosign it.

You dont have to get a secured card. Try for an unsecured card first you might actually get it
They gave me one and i have no credit history. I applied with my current bank.

Credit Card companies will look at credit worthiness to offer you credit. Sometimes you are able to use your ITIN for it. However, that usually works when you are of young age. In other words, when you are still a student. 18-22 (best age) reason being is, they check your credit and obviously an ITIN doesn't have one, but they expect that to happen because you are a student and not an adult that has been working for a long time and would have some form of credit. So, if you are under that category and even STUDY, you should be able to be approved for a card with a minimum credit line of 300 to 500 dollars. It is not much, but it is a start and you would build credit. Problem comes in when you actually receive your SS card. Not sure how the conversion would occur, but once it does, you would be able to check your credit report. With an ITIN, you are able to build credit (sometimes), but NEVER check your credit report since that only works with SSN and the ITIN automatically gets thrown out because of the initial 9.
