2009 was our best hope and Obama and the Democrats did jack shit. Can you image us ever getting the numbers that we need again? 218 liberal Democrats (with backbones) in the House. 60 liberal Democrats (with backbones) in the Senate. A liberal Democrat (with a backbone) as President. Almost impossible.

Our only hope is to get married. Do not ever have hope in Obama or other sleazy politicians.
When has the senate ever had 60 democrats let alone 60 liberal dems? And 2009 isn't our best hope...our best hope was 2001 and 2007 but we got screwed over by 9/11 and then by the retards in the house in 2007. I just hate how you and every single pseudo-political hack shit on Obama when if you knew anything on how the system works, expect him to wave around some magical wand and make everything he wants happen. He could have pushed this in 2009 after coming into office but let's be honest with ourselves, it still wouldn't have passed. Those 5 blue dogs were still in congress and they didn't have the balls to vote for some common sense legislation. If anything, complain about McCain, Hatch, Collins, Snowe, Hutchinson, Graham and all of the republicans who previously supported the DREAM Act but in an effort to shit on Obama voted NO...blame them not Him.

Never going to happen. People are pissed at the GOP for trying to "privatize" medicare and this whole Obama nailed bin Laden issue is going to give Obama a boost come election time. If anything, expect the GOP to be gone from the House and the Senate...and they're not going to touch the White House unless they raise Reagan from the dead. If anything expect some sort of DREAM Act passage in 2013-2014 if not sooner.

Hey, thanks for your reply. Of course I blame the Republicans who turned their backs on us.

But Obama is still to blame. He is smart and knows that whether it should or should not be, immigration reform is considered "controversial." His best chance at passing it would have been 2009. That's when our numbers were the best that there were ever going to be.

He was just inaugurated... his approval ratings were sky high... it was before the stimulus bill... it was before the Tea Party... it was before Birthers took over the Republican party... we still had Burris and Kennedy in the Senate. Even with those two, for DREAM, we'd be about 3 votes short, right? Well, I think at the time, we could have convinced 3 more.

Now? No chance in Hell is it happening, with the way Republicans and the Tea Party have been behaving. I am saying, the only way immigration reform is going to happen now is if we have 218 liberal Democrats in the House, 60 liberal Democrats in the Senate, and a Democratic president who isn't a loser like Obama is (which is not going to happen anytime soon, surely not in the next election.)

Get married people, fuck all politicians.

I understand all you guys' anger in this thread.
Only realistical chance we ever had for DA was 2001 and 2007.
Obama is absurdly calling for CIR, which is impossible to pass in current congress. (they couldn't even pass a small peace meal legislation like DA, so how can they even talk about CIR?)

As for myself, I have returned to my home country and am being treated like a real citizen here. If you guys want to keep continue living in the US, I recommend you guys find some nice USC.
I really cannot hear this agony coming from my Dreamie friends in the US. I really do want to help out, but only thing I can do is mourning with you guys.

The reality is Dems and Obama are playing too much. I have been played around for 14 years until I came to a decision that I really had to leave. With all the respect for your endeavor, I deeply wish that DA revives and passes within couple years.

I strongly feel DA's best chance was last year in December. It was practically past the finish line. The race was manipulated and we lost 5 of our vital supporters from a combination of cheating and back stabbing. Overwhelming passage from House + President's support + Public's Support + 55 votes in the Senate =

We want key action, not key speech. We heard enough of those speeches.
