Just stay on top of your game! We have an EAD for 2 years, we don't know whether we can renew or not! Make the most of it :)

I waited 8 days, from the day my EAD was approved (10/08), and went to SSA on 10/16 to apply. They didn't even say I had to wait or rejected me. Don't even mention...

You put "Legal Alien Allowed to Work". I left that part of my application blank and asked the clerk what would be best to put down. She said that "Legal Alien Allowed to Work" is the one to check off.

I went to my local office in Lancaster, California. Yes, I was. I went to apply for my SSN on 10/16, and went to get my print out 10/18 no problem :)

I took my EAD, expired passport, and original birth certificate and I applied for my social no problem. So yes, you can take an expired passport.

Actually, the lady that helped me didn't even ask...

I've been here since February, 2001. I was 7 years old at the time, and I am turning 19 next month. Total of 12 years for me...Feels great knowing I won't be deported for at least 2 years. :)

Thanks for the information. I wasn't too sure, because I didn't call USPS for a tracking number or USCIS. Did USCIS give you a tracking number?

Maybe you can call USPS and ask for one if you give them your address and they might be able to look it up. Other than that, USCIS does not give you a tracking number when they send it out.

Yeah, I was really surprised to see one come up so fast. Where I live it's a population of about 250,000...with other cities containing the same amount of population but with separate DMV offices....

I think it might depend on the state. The permit you get in CA is just a couple of papers with your picture on the back. When you pass the behind the wheel test they send you the actual DL.
