I'm pretty sure what FinAnalyst meant was to have a balance when statement closes. Afterwards, the balance can be paid in full. Credit bureaus only know what the credit card company reports to them:...

From my experience with auto loans they care about your oldest card so closing it may be a good thing in your case. My oldest card is 4 years old with a limit of 750 and the rest of my credits cards...
